We are connecting a research network at Northwestern, Underwriters Laboratories Inc., and partner universities to advance toward the operationalization of safety in machine intelligence. CASMI advances fundamental research, evaluates the human impacts of intelligent technologies, and develops best practices for the design, development, and evaluation of systems to ensure they are safe, equitable, and beneficial to all.

FORGE is NNCI’s emerging hub for applied, hands-on experimentation and collaboration, where data science, artificial intelligence, and domain expertise come together to address real-world challenges. Bringing together students, faculty, staff, and industry partners who are exploring, experimenting, or ready to build, FORGE is designed to support work across all disciplines and levels of experience.
Master of Artificial Intelligence
Northwestern’s Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI) program aims to serve this demand by producing graduates who have exceptional technical skills to create new AI systems and who also understand the nature of the human environments in which the systems they build will be deployed.
